"In the age of digital culture, games are not just entertainment; they are a lens through which we can examine our realities and the systems that govern them."

Game used to be interpreted as an escape from reality, only an entertainment for people to spend their off-time, and was also known for its addictions as well. But nowadays, technology advanced to a point where we no longer sees games just being "games", but educational, technological, and even became one of the new pioneer of storytelling. And it is still advancing, one of them are contemporary installation arts, Simon Denny's artworks.

[The installation artwork that I am particularly drawn into... ]

Simon Denny was born in 1982 in Auckland, New Zealand. studied at the Elam School of Fine Arts at the University of Auckland, New Zealand and at the Städelschule, Frankfurt. He is a contempory artist works with installations, sculpture and videos, and two of his artworks explored the physical and digital spaces with games.

Starting off with his latest work - Dungeon. This artwork showcased his practise on the asethetics and theme of gaming, particularly on RPG games, a role-playing games genre. He often incorporates with games elements into his works as an metaphor on social issues,

exploring how games shapes our reality.

In Dungeon artworks, the Dungeon 5 Map Artwork shown a few key features features Denny's main interests and his practises. By using the map format, Denny critiques aspects of game culture, such as the commodification of experiences and the implications of virtual realities on our understanding of the world.

Another of his artworks is the Crypto Futures Game of Life Overprint Collage: Electronic Banking Dystopia, 2018. This work reflects his ongoing explorations of technology and social issues on digital culture. The artwork frames the context of a game, emphasizes the unpredictable nature of engaging with financial systems. This game metaphor invites viewers to consider their roles as players in a larger economic game, where the rules and outcomes can be manipulated.
